ITANAGAR, Feb 13: The Multi Media Campaign (MMC) with the theme, “Live Another Day, Journey Against AIDS” continuing its journey reached Roing town to educate youth about HIV/AIDS.
The death metal band ‘Alien Gods’ with large number of fan following among the youth yesterday evening made Roing audience dance to the tune of its rocking numbers at Roing General Ground. At the same time the lead vocalist of Alien Gods, Olik Boko, appeal youths to stay away from drugs and HIV while urging them not to discriminate people living with HIV. Carnal Sins, another death metal band who is also the goodwill ambassador of APSACS enthralled the Roing audience consisting of hundreds of youth while appealing them to stay safe from HIV.
W. Tikhak, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Lower Dibang Valley, while attending the programme appealed to the youths to be sincere towards their studies and avoid unwanted activities which may put them at risk. He also stressed on the need for creating awareness in order to prevent the further spread of HIV.
Tashor Pali, deputy director (IEC), APSACS, during the course of rock concert while educating the youth on the routes of HIV transmission and its prevention asked the youth to come forwards and donate blood voluntarily. “You need not be a film star to become a hero. You can be a hero by donating blood voluntarily to a needy person and save a precious live. Voluntary blood donors are the real life heroes. They save live of someone who is in need of blood,” said Pali.

ITANAGAR, Feb 13: In a devastating fire mishap that occurred at Puak Gumin yesterday midnight eight MIBT dwelling houses belonging to Bindo Lollen, Meto Lomi, Kakor Loyi, Tamu Zerang, Takir Gara, Liyi Ngomdir, Tomar Loyi and Jumli Ori were gutted down. Also one RCC Building suffered heavy damage while seven other dwelling houses were partially damaged. Seventeen families including one tenant have been affected by the fire accident. The cause of fire has been attributed to bursting of LPG cylinders.
The West Siang Deputy Commissioner Marnya Ete and Superintendent of Police rushed to the spot at midnight to take stock of the situation. The District Administration has provided immediate relief of Rs. 4000 to those whose house has been completely damaged and Rs. 2000 to partially damaged fire victims. The District Administration has also constituted a standing board to finalize detail assessment report. No casualty has been reported so far but properties running into crores are said to be damaged in the accident. Criticizing the rampant Govt land encroachment by private parties in the state, he called upon the Govt officers to stand firm and not to compromise with the land encroachers.
The minister further informed that the department of Industry sent 100 trainees to attend one year skill development course at Industrial Training Institute at Noida last year and all of them got employed in various parts of the country after completion of their course. The department is further planning to send 200 more trainees for the same course. He asked the local leaders to submit the names of those candidates at the earliest to the Deputy Director of Industries.
Responding to a memorandum submitted by the Anchal Chairperson Tuppik Saring regarding fund provision for renovation of school auditorium and security fencing around it, he assured to take up the matter with the concerned minister and the chief minister of the state.

PASIGHAT, Feb 13: In a shocking incident four members of a family were found murdered
at Namsing village under Mebo Sub-
Till the filing of this report, police has apprehended two persons in the matter.
Police sources have informed that apparently the motive behind the murder is personal enmity, however, the investigations are on considering all possible angles.
It is understood that the postmortem of the bodies have been conducted and apart from the neck injuries there are no signs of other injuries on the bodies including the female one.

AAPSU condemns gang rape, demands arrest of culprits
ITANAGAR, Feb 13: All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) has condemned the gang rape of a minor school girl allegedly by a group of Chakma refugee youths at Chownkham, Lohit district on February 10 last.
AAPSU appealed to the authority concern to immediately arrest the culprits involved in shameful act and award them exemplary punishment as per the law.
It also demanded the state government to restore the deteriorating law and order situation. AAPSU further demanded the state government to confine the refugees in their respective designated block areas at the earliest. Repeated involvement of refugees in criminal activities indicates that state government is not dealing with the vexed issue seriously despite repeated appeal, it said.
AAPSU also condemned the kidnapping of principal of government higher secondary school Mahadhevpur. It demanded the authority to arrest the culprits involved in the kidnapping of school principal and award them severe punishment.
It also informed that AAPSU team would visit the incident spot and all refugee affected areas soon.
Fire safety norms a must: Byaling Correspondent
DAPORIJO, Feb 13: Power and Panchayati Raj Minister Tanga Byaling today called upon the people of Daporijo township to strictly follow the fire safety rules while constructing dwelling houses at colony. Byaling was addressing a mass awareness campaign on fire safety organized by the Tagin Cultural Society after the tragic fire mishap which claimed three precious lives at Singin colony recently. The awareness campaign was attended, among others by all the heads of department, panchayat leaders, fire victims and general public.
Most of the residents of Daporijo are not aware of fire safety measures, Byaling said. He said that carelessness and indiscipline are the two main reasons for frequent occurrence of fire accidents in the township. The minister, however, advised the common people to maintain proper drainage and construct their dwelling houses in a planned way so that fire tender move freely in case of fire accident and not to encroach land on congested area. He also urged the people to cooperate the fire service authorities in time of needs.
The minister further asked the district administration to find out the cause of frequent fire accident and to nab the miscreants who are creating nuisance particularly during night hours. Byaling also lauded the TCS for its role in providing immediate relief assistance to the fire victims.
Executive Engineer PWD, Tania Raji appealed the denizens to extend all possible help to fire victims and fire personnel during the fire accident. He also urged them to maintain proper road in the colony so that fire tender can easily reach the spot in case of fire mishap.
Expressing concern over the frequent fire mishap in this township, DUDA Dy Director, Halli Welly asked the general people to analyse of cause of such fire mishap.

ITANAGAR, Feb 13: The Blood Bank, Arunachal State Hospital, Naharlagun as part of the 3 Days Induction Training Progamme on Standard Operating Procedure for Blood Bank staffs conducted a Blood Donation Camp at National Institute of Technology, Yupia in association with NSS and NCC cell of the institute under the aegis of Arunachal Pradesh State AIDS Control Society, Naharlagun for practical and field visit for the trainees.
A brief inaugural cum donor motivation session was arranged to sensitize the donors on the voluntary blood donation. In his speech Prof. (Dr).C T Bhunia, Director, NIT, Yupia humbly mentioned that this is the second time that NIT, Yupia has participated in blood donation camp and spoke on the logo adopted by the institution which consists of four pillars and one signifying service to the society which is synonymous to a Voluntary Blood Donation. Prof Bhunia added that saving someone’s life is a noble cause and further advocated for conducting of regular Voluntary Blood Donation Camps to NSS/NCC cell, NIT, Yupia and appealed to the rest of the other civil societies to shoulder their social responsibility and come forward to organise such blood donation camps.

Annually our state on the basis of population needs 15,000 units of blood for transfusion in medical related emergency cases but we are not able to meet 1/4th of our demand for blood, he said. Also he highlighted that blood cannot be artificially produced in any factory nor it can have any substitutes. Further he warned patients not to buy blood from professional blood donors for transfusion purposes, it may lead to risk of chances of getting of Transfusion Transmitted Infections like malaria, hepatitis, syphilis and HIV/AIDS.

ITANAGAR, Feb 13: A method demonstration cum training programme on “Value added product preparation and snacks making of Tapioca” was organized by KVK, Changlang district on 13th February at Longvi villages under Nampong Sub division. All together 21 women including SHG and Anganwadi Worker participated in this programme. Pinki Sharma, SMS Home Science demonstrated various processes on preparation of different products from Tapioca by making Chips, Flour and Livestock feed etc.

Request to medical practitioners
ITANAGAR, Feb 13: Following the directives of the Medical Council of India, the Arunachal Pradesh Medical Council has requested all medical practitioners (allopath) and medical institutions to prescribe drugs with generic names as far as possible.
“Every physician should, as far as possible, prescribe drugs with generic names and he / she shall ensure that there is a rational prescription and use of drugs,” said the release while referring to the Indian Medical Council (Professional Conduct Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations, 2002.

He was around 40 years of age. Lt. Tarun Tateh is survived by his wife, 3 sons and 2 daughters. His mortal remain was brought to his residence at Geku Village under Geku Circle of Upper Siang district. His last rite was performed on 10th of this month. Panggi Welfare Society expressed deep sense of condolence to the bereaved family and prayed to the almighty God to bestow enough strength to bear the irreparable loss.

ITANAGAR, Feb 13: Architect Haring Camder Tok, working as an Architect under the Directorate of Tourism, Government of Arunachal Pradesh has been conferred with prestigious Bharat Jyoti Award and Certificate of Excellence by the India International Friendship Society. The award was presented to Tok in recognition of outstanding performance and meritorious services in the field of science and technology.
He was awarded on 9th February at a grand function held at India International Centre, New Delhi. The former Governor and Union Minister Bishma Narayan Singh gave away the Certificate and Trophy. Other dignitaries like G.V.S. Murthy former Chief Election Commissioner of India, Joginder Singh, Former Director CBI and Shahid Satte Rajvi former governor of Jharkhand were present on the occasion.

Through your esteem daily, I would like to request concerned authority and local MLA to kindly provide relief materials to fire victims of Riko village, one of the most remote villages of Upper Subansiri district. Even to provide some help one has to travel more than 6 hrs by foot march. People are having tough time due to winter season as cloths and domestic items of many houses have been burnt to ashes. Also I would like to request all media houses of our state to kindly cover the sufferings of remote and so called backward areas of our state.
